Abir Gitlin
PhD Student
Abir is a PhD student at the Department of International Relations at the Hebrew University, supervised by Devorah Manekin and Roni Porat. He holds a BA in International Studies and Psychology from the University of Miami, and an MA in International Relations from the Hebrew University.
Abir’s dissertation examines strategies for promoting a reduction of animal-based food consumption, as part of the effort to address climate change, as well as from a human-animal power relations perspective. His other line of research looks at protracted conflicts, specifically, how national leaders shape peacemaking attitudes, and how critics' identities affect domestic public opinion on human rights.
